X-Flare/CME arrival tomorrow morning 3/8/12- 2 AM est - Power may be Affected - Bound directly towards the Earth

 Soho Cameras are being affected right now due to the flare protons. 

Update 3/8/12 7 Am - As of this morning, I do not see that the Earth has been impacted at all.  The magnetosphere does not show there has been any pressure on the Earth as of yet.  So it seems it may be as the last time, the flare went either above or below the Earth and missed us. 

Since X flares travel much faster - the one released this morning will be getting to Earth tomorrow morning. Watch for Auroras. This is the strongest Earth directed CME/flare in a long time. East coast is 4 hours behind UTC time. So that would be around 2 AM est. The stereo and soho cameras are being affected by the strong CMEs over the last day. You can see all the white particle protons.

WASHINGTON – The largest solar flare in five years is racing toward Earth, threatening to unleash a torrent of charged particles that could disrupt power grids, GPS and airplane flights.

"It's hitting us right in the nose," said Joe Kunches, a scientist for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. He called it the sun's version of "Super Tuesday."

The solar storm is likely to last through Friday morning, but the region that erupted can still send more blasts our way, Kunches said. He said another set of active sunspots is ready to aim at Earth right after this.

But for now, scientists are waiting to see what happens Thursday when the charged particles hit Earth at 4 million mph.

What I find is interesting almost one year ago to the date we had a strong flare hit the Earth, then the 3/11/11 quake/tsunami happened.  

Flares do have an affect on Earthquakes, due to the pressure.  When the pressure is released is when the Earth pops I have found.  So, expect large quakes during/after this X-flare event.

I found this interesting. I like to see how far down the Auroras are when a flare is impacting the Earth. It seems that NOAA is doing an IT upgrade at this time and there is no real time Aurora Map to be seen.

Added - Great Video about it.  Shows an X-Flare happened and then another X-Flare happened right after.
This guys explains a lot. He does say, he wasn't sure if it was Earth directed when he made the video. I will add, since then NOAA has confirmed it is Earth directed.

UPDATE 9/25/11 - 11 M Class Flares in 24 hours

I have never seen the chart like this.  The C flares are constant, one after another.  Two X flares within 2 days and a M Flare that just happened after the X flare today.

It is coming from the sun spot 1302 that is just coming around the corner and starting to face Earth.

I normally put information about our Magnetosphere but the site has been down since 9/22/11 which is right before we began getting hit from all the huge flares that began happening on 9/19/11. 

The way the flares have been ongoing non stop, I believe the Earth is getting impacted non stop.

NASA Not One Picture of X flare that Happened 3/9/11. What are they Hiding? Did a CME come off at the same time?

NASA hides information all the time!  Perfect example is they stopped all the photos of the X Flare that happened yesterday (3/9/11).  They have pictures right before it happened and then skipped to pictures 11 hours after it now.  What Bull Shit!  What are they hiding?

They are now not letting people know if a CME was released at the same time as the flare!  Why?

I can tell you NASA always hides information, they constantly photoshop the sun pictures.  All of us who watch the sun know that and we can see it.  They also stop the pictures when something is happening.  Many times they go to "Bake out" when people see an anomaly around the sun, all of a sudden all the information and pictures of the sun goes down throughout NASA's sites!

So I have a question:  WHAT ARE YOU HIDING NASA?  Besides that how can anyone believe a single thing you release?

As I see it NASA never releases information of things people should possibly prepare for to protect themselves!  In fact they will do the opposite!  They try to keep people stupid and without information with real events.  Just like they have now taken the WISE telescope off line, just as they found a Brown Dwarf Star and Comet Elenin is coming.


Oh another government entity Hides public information all the time too!  That one is the USGS - the Earthquake site!  They will take off Earthquakes all the time and they do NOT report all the Earthquakes!  In fact there are many more Earthquakes happening at Yellowstone than they are putting on the Earthquake site. 

This proves even those Government organizations that are suppose to give people information constantly changes and hides information from the people! Is there one government organization that actually gives people the truth?  Yeah, I know very silly question!  Why would I expect honesty from the U.S. government?

Is this the Governments attitude about everything?  Is this the way they conduct the business of the U.S. in thinking "People Can't Handle the Truth"?

Right now the magnetosphere is Clear - so it has not arrived.

But I did just look at it and it seems to be in the beginning stages of a flare about to hit.

This is an FYI - so, personally I will be unplugging electronics I am not use nor will use tonight and will watch our magnetic field to know when I need to unplug the rest.

Well NASA was wrong about the arrival time

This means we who will be sun facing will have the effects of it, if any.  

The X Class Flare is stronger and faster so it will be catching up with the smaller flares of the same day.  

Those in the northern area, may even be able to see the aurora - but with the last X class flare people in Arizona saw Auroras too.

"X-class flares are the most powerful of all solar events that can trigger radio blackouts and long-lasting radiation storms," disturbing telecommunications and electric grids, NASA added.

In previous major disturbance of the Earth's electric grid from a solar incident, in 1973, a magnetic storm caused by a solar eruption plunged six million people into the dark in Quebec.

X Class Solar Flare just happened, besides 10 C Class Flares and 1 M Class Flare - Happened All Today!

The Sun sure has been busy.

Today we got an X Class Solar Flare, it has been since 2006 from my understanding, since a X Class Flare has happened.

Besides the X Class Flare, we also had a M Class Flare and 10 C Class Flares - ALL Today! This does not include the M 6 Flare from yesterday.

All the flares are Earth directed.

What does that mean?

In about 3 to 4 days you can expect the Earth to be getting hit hard.

Our magnetosphere has weakened over the last few years and it will definitely be stressed out in about 3 to 4 days.

Since we have a weakened magnetosphere, it may be a good idea to unplug electronics in a couple of days. Also watch the above linked site to know when we are getting impacted.

Also you will find large earthquakes most of the time,  accompany hard hits on our magnetosphere, so don't be surprised if there are some 6 + magnitude quakes during this time either.  

I just wanted to get this information just to make people aware.  Nothing to get worried about, but simply good information to have.

Update -  Spaceweather now has up the fact there was an X Class flare - they said, besides the flare the sun hurled CME towards the Earth also.

X-flares are the strongest type of solar flare, and this is the first such eruption of new Solar Cycle 24. In addition to flashing Earth with UV radiation, the explosion also hurled a coronal mass ejection (CME) in our direction. The expanding cloud may be seen in this movie from NASA's STEREO-B spacecraft. Geomagnetic storms are possible when the CME arrives 36 to 48 hours hence. Stay tuned for updates.

A solar flare is an explosion on the Sun that happens when energy stored in twisted magnetic fields (usually above sunspots) is suddenly released. Flares produce a burst of radiation across the electromagnetic spectrum, from radio waves to x-rays and gamma-rays. [more information]

There are 3 categories: X-class flares are big; they are major events that can trigger planet-wide radio blackouts and long-lasting radiation storms.
