UPDATE - 11/29/11 - 5:15PM EST - The Senate voted FOR THE BILL! THEY HAVE COMMITTED TREASON AND THEY ARE NOW THE TERRORIST AGAINST THE U.S. PEOPLE!

Al Franken is speaking saying "This is not the way to do it - he does not support the bill and he supports Udall's amendment and co-sponsored it taking out the detention of U.S. citizens. ****
I know I turned it on late, it seems that is all they are doing on the floor now, no one else is getting up to speak and they have cut to music. I do not know who else got up for or against the bill at this time.

Seems McCain has clashed with others over the bill on the floor today.

I don't think it necessarily follows I am arguing of the release of prisoners,” Paul said. “I am simply arguing that particularly American citizens should not be sent to a foreign prison without due process.”
But McCain ended the conversation by suggesting the junior senator from Kentucky did not understand the gravity of the danger the U.S. faces from terrorism.
"An individual, no matter who they are, if they pose a threat to the security of the United States of America, should not be allowed to continue that threat," said McCain. " We need to take every stop necessary to prevent that from happening, that’s for the safety and security of the men and women who are out there risking their lives ... in our armed services.”
McCain feels anyone and everyone who is a threat to the security of the U.S. should be detained and held for the rest of their lives without due process! Wasn't he a POW?! - how would he have liked being held forever and never released because that country thought he was a threat?! Also what makes a person a threat? Speaking their mind? Adhering to the constitution?

After the Armed Services Committee passed the bill 26-0 earlier this month, the White House threatened to veto it if the detainee portions were not altered.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) plans to hold a cloture vote Wednesday for the defense authorization bill, and the Senate hopes to wrap up the bill with a final vote by Thursday, Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin (D-Mich.) said Monday.
Levin is not backing down from the fight, and he took it public on Monday along with ranking member Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), as the pair penned a Washington Post op-ed calling their approach to terror detention a “balanced” one.
Levin and McCain have disagreed, arguing their legislation gives the administration “broad authority to decide who is covered by this provision and how and when such a decision is made.”
Levin and McCain are now looking to press on this week, and with a busy December ahead, Reid appears ready to move the bill through the Senate. Levin and McCain talked on the Senate floor Monday about their eagerness to move quickly through a slew of more than 100 amendments.
“We’re not going have more than this week for this bill,” Levin said.
Many of those amendments seek to alter or strip out the detainee provisions from the bill. Sen. Mark Udall (D-Colo.), an Armed Services member, has said his amendments would prevent a veto. But McCain and Levin oppose any major changes to the legislation’s detainee provisions, including Udall’s amendments.

b) Covered Persons- A covered person under this section is any person as follows:
(1) A person who planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, or harbored those responsible for those attacks.
(2) A person who was a part of or substantially supported al-Qaeda, the Taliban, or associated forces that are engaged in hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners, including any person who has committed a belligerent act or has directly supported such hostilities in aid of such enemy forces.
SEC. 5. DETENTION WITHOUT TRIAL OF UNPRIVILEGED ENEMY BELLIGERENTS.
An individual, including a citizen of the United States, determined to be an unprivileged enemy belligerent under section 3(c)(2) ... may be detained without criminal charges and without trial for the duration of hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners in which the individual has engaged, or which the individual has purposely and materially supported, consistent with the law of war and any authorization for the use of military force provided by Congress pertaining to such hostilities.
Anyone who has stood up for the constitution or raised their voice against what the government is doing, would be in this category! ONLY the frickin Asleep Idiots who couldn't care less and don't want to be distracted from their sports or watching their mindless T.V. shows will be kept - because they are controlled! I am including my family in this category! My mother this morning, when I told her about this.... couldn't be bothered and didn't want information on it.... because it would "ruin" her attitude for the day and she needed to sell furniture! Two questions about this....
First - What will the Police do when their jobs are taken away from them?
Second - Will the military people go along with this? Will they start rounding up U.S. Citizens because they were told to, without the citizens actually doing anything against normal laws?
