Upon going to Fukushima Diary this morning they have very compelling information up about the 4.5 quake that happened yesterday and listed above. Here is what they have up as the top story:
There is a lot of suspicion that earthquakes at Fukushima could be hydrovolcanic explosions or hydrogen explosions.
This afternoon again, an earthquake has hit the damaged Fukushima nuclear power plant. Its magnitude was 4.5

Look at this video from the TEPCO webcam - at the 1:55 minute the 4.5 quake hit, notice how fast it was - more like a reaction from an explosion compared to a quake. Then watch the base of the tower (right side of screen) at the 3:45 minute mark - see the fire start in two places. A purple haze on one side and a definite flame on the left side of the base. The purple haze gets bigger as the time goes by. There is some type of flashing happening too around the 6 minute mark by reactor 3 at the bottom corner of it. Fog is around the base (it is slight, but watch it carefully and you will see it).
***Note*** Watch very carefully at the right of the tower at the 1:28 mark in the bushes - you will see a flame start before the quake. (Fukushima noted this - on their site and you can see the flame before the quake. It is not at the base of the tower though - look to the right of the tower.
All pictures below are from the Fukushima Diary site linked above and from TEPCO webcam after the "4.5 quake".
Yesterday TEPCO announced radiation at 70 Million becquerels per hour was being released from Fukushima.
Just a small reminder, the video is accelerated so any shaking due to an explosion or an earthquake will feel much more violent than it would normally if it was normal speed. But this looks really bad in any case.
ReplyDeleteNuke has let us down time and time again.
ReplyDeleteCheck out these high quality pictures of Fukushima. There is no reactor 3 at building three. It blew up and disintegrated in a way that the nuke industry promised could never happen. It was all about losing power. Nuke plant melt down (and then sometimes blow up) if their umbilical cord is taken away. Tell me about 4 or 8 hours of battery backup.
This dangerous technology is a sham, and and authority having jurisdiction should be allowed prevent plant license renewal and approval of new plants.

We have the alternative already.

This is really scary .. It's really hard to handle these types of situation. Japan did a great job.
