Why a secret morgue? There is no reason to have a secret morgue unless something wrong is going on there.
When they release the bodies will they have already been embalmed? Will the families get to see their loved one? Will the families be allowed to identify their loved one?
NO, something is very wrong about it. Also the police threatening the way they did is Wrong! Are we all criminals for trying to find the truth of matters?
There are many questions about this. If I had a loved one that died in Joplin or was missing I would be very loud about wanting to be able to see if my loved one was at the morgue!

Could be because they want to inform family members before it hits mainstream media.

I had a distant relative that was missing for 6 weeks after the hurricane. It was very strange - his existence at the morgue was finally confirmed when a friend of a friend who was an FBI agent called for "official information". When the family was notified, the letter said the body had been cremated and the cause of death was "natural causes". When they ordered an autopsy report, the cause of death came back GSWH. I'll let you figure out if that's natural causes or not.
I'm not sure why they would want a secret morgue in Joplin - other than they simply don't want people to know the number of deaths. The cause of death is pretty obvious, and I don't think they had the same level of looting and chaos that broke out.
