Anti War and Revolution Songs from the 60's that apply today - People Need to Wake UP!

I was listening to some of these songs the other day and realized it completely applies to all that is happening today, in people needing to WAKE UP to what is going on in the World.  These are songs from the 60's about revolution, anti war and standing up for what you believe in.  People are not doing that today, people are just letting those in power do as they will, in making the United States constitution irrelevant and even illegal.

Bob Dylan - Masters of War
Super powerful song - all you have to do is replace the pictures of those in power from the 60's to every single government official in power today and those who control them from behind the scenes!

Phil Ochs - What are you fighting for?

Excellent - must listen to. Completely applies to today's world. Joblessness - War - Media lies - elected officials lies amazing!

Buffalo Springfield: For What it's Worth
Better known as "Stop and Look around - See what is going down!

Jefferson Airplane: Volunteers of America Amerika
This next video, you have to wonder.... What has happened to the people? Where is the 1960's sense of standing up for all you believe in? Where is the outrage over what our elected officials have done in taking down the United States? Where is the outrage and standing up for our constitution? Why are all the people sitting back and allowing a complete destruction of the constitution by not marching against the unconstitutional forming of the "Super Congress"?

CCR - Fortunate Son

Wars and the government getting those to do their bidding to invade other countries and steal their resources, as being done in Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan and who knows how many future countries the United States will invade.

CCR - Bad Moon Rising
applies to where the country is going

Beatles - Revolution

Donovan - The Universal Solider

Byrds - Turn Turn Turn

Phil Ochs - I ain't marching anymore

Phil Ochs - Ringing of Revolution

This is about the Elite, sucking all they can out of the middle class and trying to keep people slaves, but there is a revolution beginning outside. I am inserting the lyrics to this song after the video

In a building of gold, with riches untold,
lived the families on which the country was founded.
And the merchants of style, with their red velvet smiles,
were there, for they also were hounded.
And the soft middle class crowded in to the last,
for the building was fully surrounded.
And the noise outside was the ringing of revolution.

Sadly they stared and sank in their chairs
and searched for a comforting notion.
And the rich silver walls looked ready to fall
As they shook in doubtful devotion.
The ice cubes would clink as they freshened their drinks,
wet their minds in bitter emotion.
And they talked about the ringing of revolution.

We were hardly aware of the hardships they beared,
for our time was taken with treasure.
Oh, life was a game, and work was a shame,
And pain was prevented by pleasure.
The world, cold and grey, was so far away
In the distance only money could measure.
But their thoughts were broken by the ringing of revolution.

The clouds filled the room in darkening doom
as the crooked smoke rings were rising.
How long will it take, how can we escape
Someone asks, but no one's advising.
And the quivering floor responds to the roar,
In a shake no longer surprising.
As closer and closer comes the ringing of revolution.

Softly they moan, please leave us alone
As back and forth they are pacing.
And they cover their ears and try not to hear
With pillows of silk they're embracing.
And the crackling crowd is laughing out loud,
peeking in at the target they're chasing.
Now trembling inside the ringing of revolution.
With compromise sway we give in half way

When we saw that rebellion was growing.
Now everything's lost as they kneel by the cross
Where the blood of christ is still flowing.
To late for their sorrow they've reached their tomorrow
and reaped the seed they were sowing.
Now harvested by the ringing of revolution.

In tattered tuxedos they faced the new heroes
and crawled about in confusion.
And they sheepishly grinned for their memoroes were dim
of the decades of dark execution.
Hollow hands were raised; they stood there amazed
in the shattering of their illusions.
As the windows were smashed by the ringing of revolution.

Down on our knees we're begging you please,
We're sorry for the way you were driven.
There's no need to taunt just take what you want,
and we'll make amends, if we're living.
But away from the grounds the flames told the town
that only the dead are forgiven.
As they crumbled inside the ringing of revolution.

Bob Dylan - With God On Our Side Lyrics

The ultimate song - on how those in government spin why they go to war, by invoking God! Lyrics to song after video.  Read the words, even if you don't listen to the video, they are very powerful.

Oh my name it is nothin'
My age it means less
The country I come from
Is called the Midwest
I's taught and brought up there
The laws to abide
And that land that I live in
Has God on its side.

Oh the history books tell it
They tell it so well
The cavalries charged
The Indians fell
The cavalries charged
The Indians died
Oh the country was young
With God on its side.

Oh the Spanish-American
War had its day
And the Civil War too
Was soon laid away
And the names of the heroes
I's made to memorize
With guns in their hands
And God on their side.

Oh the First World War, boys
It closed out its fate
The reason for fighting
I never got straight
But I learned to accept it
Accept it with pride
For you don't count the dead
When God's on your side.

When the Second World War
Came to an end
We forgave the Germans
And we were friends
Though they murdered six million
In the ovens they fried
The Germans now too
Have God on their side.

I've learned to hate Russians
All through my whole life
If another war starts
It's them we must fight
To hate them and fear them
To run and to hide
And accept it all bravely
With God on my side.

But now we got weapons
Of the chemical dust
If fire them we're forced to
Then fire them we must
One push of the button
And a shot the world wide
And you never ask questions
When God's on your side.

In a many dark hour
I've been thinkin' about this
That Jesus Christ
Was betrayed by a kiss
But I can't think for you
You'll have to decide
Whether Judas Iscariot
Had God on his side.

So now as I'm leavin'
I'm weary as Hell
The confusion I'm feelin'
Ain't no tongue can tell
The words fill my head
And fall to the floor
If God's on our side
He'll stop the next war.
